Facebook is trivial ! ~ by Hénock Gugsa

Facebook is trivial !
~ by Hénock Gugsa ~

We all should realize by now that Facebook is not a dependable repository for our ideas, our thoughts or labored mental efforts.  I wish that the opposite were true ... but Facebook is not that serious or high-minded a platform for worthy projects.  You don't know what kind of an audience you might get for any of your serious endeavors because Facebook is a wasteland or, if you prefer, a mere sinkhole.

On Facebook, you are bound to encounter the following possible negative reactions to your efforts...
1 - People don't expect to find  or read your work here on Facebook, especially your well-researched and authoritative efforts.  Everybody (and that includes your friends) is skeptical and wary about the authenticity of your work.  They ask : If you are so dedicated, why not write a book and profit from its sale?
2 - People don't have the time to read a lengthy work.
3 - People suffer from various forms of attention-deficit-disorder!
4 - Some people may even be envious and don't want to acknowledge let alone give you credit for your work.  They will not give you any feedback, and they will act as if they have not seen your posts (i.e. missed them).
5 - There is no documentation system, no organized archival structure on Facebook for the users.  Everything is fleeting and has a short life span. There is even a limit to how long something stays up on a timeline, even your own !   Yes, you can scroll and scroll ... but that is tiresome, pointless, and a huge waste of time.

I have a constructive suggestion as an alternative to Facebook : personal blog!  You can do all your serious work there.  In the meantime, alert your friends and others that you have a personal blog  and announce the URL address in your profile section of your Facebook account.
