The Four Humors

The Four Humors :===>  Fire, Earth, Water, Air
Quartet of liquids: ===> yellow bile, black bile, white phlegm, and red    blood

The key to good health was thought to be an ideal balance among the four humors. Danger arose if one predominated, so periodic voiding was crucial. For the most part, the body took care of this naturally: black bile, yellow bile, and phlegm were expelled through excrement, sweat, tears, and nasal discharge.
